Commitment to Community

Louis is committed to serving his community. He strongly believes that everyone should have access to justice and legal representation. As such, Louis has donated time to the Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago (Homeless Advocacy Program and Prisoner’s Project), which honored him for his contributions to the Goal of Equal Justice and his years of outstanding pro-bono legal services. He has also lent his expertise about guardianship matters to victims of AIDS through AIDS Legal Counsel of Chicago.

In addition to his pro bono legal work, Louis is actively involved in a number of philanthropic and charitable organizations, all of which focus on the needs of children and families facing health and financial challenges.

Louis’ work with the Face the Future Foundation is indicative of his passion and dedication. The Face the Future Foundation transforms the lives of Chicago-area children with cleft palate and craniofacial anomalies by providing access to comprehensive, state-of-the-art medical care so they can build brighter futures. As a Board member, Louis has been responsible for initiating several fundraising campaigns and has volunteered his time in support of the foundation’s annual Children’s Holiday Party. He currently serves as Face the Future’s Marketing Chair.

He was a board member for Compass to Care, which helps families with a financial need for their child’s cancer treatment and was a Board Member of The Magnificent Mile Charitable Foundation, (The Charitable Arm of the Magnificent Mile Association) whose mission is to improve the quality of life through grants and support of non-profit institutions emphasizing educational programs to provide food and shelter for those in need in the Greater North Michigan Avenue community.

Louis is a former board member of HAVEN, a teenage crisis program located on the North Shore, and was a board member of the Chicago Help Initiative, an organization focused on feeding the homeless.
