Louis R. Fine

“When my kids were very young, they would ask me what it was that I did as a lawyer. They could understand that a fireman fights fires, that an engineer drives a train, or that an astronaut goes into space, but they couldn’t wrap their heads around what exactly a lawyer was. My response to them was a simple one: ‘I help people who need help.’ To this day, I still see that as the essence of what I do.”

Louis R. Fine – Helping People, Not Just Handling Files

Louis R. Fine helps people who need help. This is a defining characteristic not only of his law practice, but also of his volunteer and philanthropic work in the community. It is the basis of his relationship with his clients, as Louis knows that clients come to him when they need assistance or guidance on issues of great importance to them. He doesn’t see his practice in terms of files, or cases, or billable hours – he sees people.

Throughout his law career, Louis has earned the trust and gratitude of those he has had the privilege to represent. He takes the time to listen to each client; to answer their questions and address their concerns. By working closely and personally with each client, Louis develops strategies and approaches that are tailored to their unique needs and goals.

A Career of Accomplishment

Louis’ career has involved not only his successful and diverse private practice but also his service in the public sector.

  • Louis also served as Chief Counsel for the Illinois Legislative Investigating Commission, and Chief Attorney for the Charitable Trust and Solicitations Division for the Office of the Illinois Attorney General.
  • An experienced divorce and family law attorney and certified mediator, Louis co-authored a lecture series entitled “Power Over Your Divorce: Avoiding Financial Disaster” and “The Art of Divorce Mediation.”
  • He is the Founder and President of the Resolution Group of Illinois, Inc., a divorce and relationship alternative to the traditional adversary divorce process that offers families in transition another avenue to resolve their differences and settle disputes with less acrimony and conflict.
